Your Interest in Theirs
Give a little, change a lot
Through our Your Interest in Theirs scheme, savers can choose to donate just a few pennies of their interest each year to help support charitable causes and local communities all across the UK.
Capped at 99p per account per calendar year, these small donations go a really long way – with over £600,000 raised since 2012.
How does it work?
At the end of every calendar year, we’ll calculate the total interest your savings have earned in each account you’ve signed up to the scheme. Then we will automatically donate the pence amount from those accounts. For example, if you earn £10.79 interest in a year on one of your accounts, 79p will be donated to the scheme. It’ll appear on your statement or in your passbook as a “CHARITY DON” payment.
Just so you know, if you’ve got a number of accounts with us and would like to donate from more than one, you’ll have to opt-in to the scheme for each account separately.

At the moment the money raised by Your Interest in Theirs is split equally between Samaritans and the Leeds Building Society Foundation.
Every six seconds someone contacts Samaritans. With more than 20,000 trained volunteers, they’re available around the clock every single day of the year, for anyone who’s struggling to cope.
Your pennies specifically fund the purchase and installation of vital new equipment like laptops, headsets and phones at branches up and down the country. With better technology their volunteers can focus more of their time on what really matters – being there to listen.
Leeds Building Society Foundation
The Leeds Building Society Foundation makes donations to a number of UK charities, who are all working to improve the lives of people in disadvantaged or vulnerable circumstances.
Run by an independent Board of Trustees, the Foundation follows set criteria to identify which charity funding requests can be met. And since 1999 it’s supported over 2,600 local projects and good causes, including helping those affected by disability, homelessness or serious illness.
