Why is it important?

Our members are central to everything we do. We're not just committed to giving them the best possible service, but also making a positive difference to the communities they live in.

What we're already doing

Making life easier

We’ve cut the amount of paperwork needed to apply for our mortgages, and sped up the process so lending decisions can be made more quickly.

Funding the Foundation

Alongside the support of our members, we fund the Leeds Building Society Charitable Foundation. Set up in 1999, it's already donated over £1.5m to over 2,000 charities in local areas.

Supporting good causes

In 2015, Leeds Building Society, along with its members and colleagues, help raise over £340,000 for good causes - including Marie Curie, Age UK and the children's charity, Variety

Empowering colleagues

We encourage colleagues to use their seven hours’ paid leave each year to support good causes in their area. We’re proud to say the number of colleagues volunteering their time doubled in 2016, leading to 1,432 hours spent helping a wide range of community projects.

Our 2017 - 2020 targets

  • Achieve customer satisfaction scores of at least 90% in our regular customer feedback surveys.
  • Provide 8,000 colleague-volunteering hours for our local communities.
  • Donate £1.2m to charities and the community, through colleague fundraising, donations and sponsorship.
