This page will tell you the steps you need to follow to apply for a savings account by post.

Please download, print and complete the PDF application form.

You’ll need Adobe Reader to print the form. You can download the latest free version of Adobe Reader via the website.

If you’re unable to print the form, you can ask us to send you a blank form.

Step 3

Choose how to fund your account

You can include one of the following with your application form:

  • Cheque - from a UK account held in your name and made payable to you
  • Transfer from another account with Leeds Building Society - enter details on the application form or wait until we open the account. Once it's open, you'll have 30 days to add the minimum balance to the account, or it'll be closed. You can do this by either of the following:
    • Electronic transfer from another bank account
    • Pay in cash at your local branch - please don’t send cash through the post

Step 4

Send us your documents

What to send us

  • Your completed, signed and dated application form (from step 2)
  • Instructions on how you want to fund your new account (from step 3)
  • Proof of your identity (if you’re a new customer)

How is my money protected?

Your eligible deposits with Leeds Building Society are protected up to a total of £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK's deposit guarantee scheme. This limit applies to the total of all deposits held in a Leeds Building Society account in the UK. Any deposits you hold above the limit are unlikely to be covered.
